Hathini was separated from herd 15 days ago
Forest department officials said that about 15 days ago, a herd of elephants was entered in Sarwaha area via Bokaro, Basantpur, Chinchi Kala and Kargi village. Meanwhile, a pregnant elephant separated from her herd and reached Hazaribagh-Barkakana railway line. Where the villagers saw him in childbirth. The presence of the elephant near the railway track was reported by the forest guards to the forest divisional officer Nitish Kumar of Ramgarh. He immediately informed the railway administration, coming into action and directed to stop the goods train going from Hazaribagh towards Barkakana for two hours.
Meanwhile, Hathini delivered safely near the railway track. Shortly after birth, the newborn cub returned to the forest of the safe elephant corridor while traveling about 10 kilometers with his mother.
Forest Department Forest Divisional Officer Nitish Kumar says that this was the first time he saw the delivery of the elephant and its cub returning to the forest so closely.
