Bharat Bandh: All the big trade unions of the country have appealed for a nationwide general strike on 9 July tomorrow. Many farmers and agricultural labor organizations have also joined it.

What has trade unions announced?
According to Amarjeet Kaur of All India Trade Union Congress, farmers and rural laborers will also participate in this strike. This can disrupt public services across the country. A platform of ten central trade unions and their colleagues has called for a nationwide general strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Wednesday. According to trade union leaders, the United Kisan Morcha and the United Front of Agricultural Labor Unions have supported the Bharat Bandh on 9 July and have decided to mobilize a large scale in rural India.

– Increase in working day and remuneration of MNREGA workers and making equal laws for urban areas.
What will be the effect on public services?
Harbhajan Singh Sidhu of Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) has said that banking, post, coal mining, factories and state transport services will be affected due to the strike. However, banking and railway unions have not officially confirmed the closure of banks or obstructing train services separately. According to the trade union, schools, colleges and private offices are expected to be open on July 9, while transport facilities will be affected. Public transport means such as buses, taxis and app-based cab services can be affected.
