Patna: The Election Commission has given a statement on the SIR amid controversy over the voter list amendment in Bihar. The Commission said that about half the target of form collection in Bihar SIR was completed in 14 days and 17 days are still left. The Commission has expressed the possibility that the collection of enrollment forms will be completed before 25 July 2025. The Commission said that under SIR in Bihar, 3,70,77,077 enrollment forms have been collected so far, which is 46.95% of the total 7,89,99,844 (about 7.90 crore) voters.

In the first two weeks of the campaign, 7.90 crore forms were printed and more than 97% forms (7,70,44,990) have been distributed to voters. So far, 18.16% forms have been uploaded in ECINET. According to the Election Commission, a large number of potential voters are submitting their forms with eligible documents. Now the goal is to collect the remaining form and documents, for which 17 days are left till 25 July.

The Election Commission said that in the last 24 hours (July 7 from 6 pm to 8 pm) 82,78,617 enrollment forms were collected, which is equal to 10.5% in a day. The campaign remains boom and despite about 50% form remaining, this work is expected to be completed in the scheduled time. The process has intensified by 20,603 BLOs joining the ground. So far, 77,895 BLOs are going door-to-door helping voters to fill the form and many have already covered all the houses.
