RTE Admission: A big achievement has been achieved in the field of education in Lucknow. In 2025-26, 18,093 children were selected in the four-phase lottery under RTE, out of which 12,600 got admission in schools.

This is the first time that such a large number of children of economically weaker sections have got free admission in private schools. It is clear from this that the impact of the efforts of the government and administration is visible at the ground level.
Admissions are increasing every year, previous records broken
The number of admissions under RTE is continuously increasing. In the year 2024-25, 9,891 children were admitted. In 2023-24 this number was 6,823 while in 2025-26 this figure has increased to 12,600. In this way, this time the most admissions have been done compared to previous years.
Many children deprived for not getting a school of choice
However, in this campaign, 5,493 children could not get admission due to not getting a school of choice. This shows that the selection of schools as per the availability and priority of seats remains a challenge.
Lottery process got opportunity
The application process for RTE admission started from 1 December. After this, qualified children were selected through lottery in four stages. This transparent process ensures that no eligible child is deprived of the opportunity.
Long journey from the beginning till now
Admission under RTE started in 2013-14, when only 11 children got admission in private schools. Today, under the same system, thousands of children are getting education opportunity, which is a big step towards social equality and educational rights.

The achievement that Lucknow has achieved this year under RTE is an inspiration for the entire state. This initiative is a strong step towards bringing poor and deprived children to quality education.
