Malayalam actress Meenu Munir was arrested on 30 June for posting derogatory post against actor-director Balchandra Menon. However, he has also got bail in the case.
Learn the whole matter
The case was registered on 2 October 2024. According to the FIR, actress Meenu Munir constantly posted derogatory posts against the petitioner Balchandra Menon. He shared pictures of Menon and also made objectionable and pornographic comments on him.
Meenu Munir had accused many actors of physical abuse during the Hema Committee.
Another person is accused in this case along with Meenu Munir. The second accused has been identified as 45 -year -old Sangeeth Luis. It is alleged that Sangeeth made threatening calls to Balchandra Menon on 13 and 14 September 2024. The incident came to light when the ‘Hema Committee’ report was released on the alleged atrocities against women in the film industry.
After this, Balchandra Menon filed a complaint of cyber crime. On this basis, the accused were registered under the Indian Justice Code (BNS) Section 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), IT Act Section 67 (publishing or broadcasting pornographic content in electronic form), and Kerala Police Act 120 (O) (through any communication through any communication, the case was filed under the case under any frequent or undesirable or unnatural calls, letters, writing, messages, emails or any messages).
Meenu Munir filed a petition for anticipatory bail
Meenu Munir filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Kerala High Court in this case, but the court rejected it. The court directed him to surrender before the Kerala Cybercrime Cell, which he followed.
On June 30, Meenu Munir surrendered, after which he was arrested. However, he was later released on bail as directed by the High Court.
