The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has also jumped into it amid political rhetoric on language dispute in Maharashtra. VHP national spokesperson Raj Nair said that people living in Maharashtra are not living with their hard work, but with their hard work. Raj Nair said, ‘All Indian languages are our mother tongues and every language should be respected. There is a Marathi state language in Maharashtra, so its respect is necessary here and everyone should try to learn it. Political rhetoric and Tu-Tu Main-I are not right for the country. People living in Maharashtra are not living with anyone’s kindness, but by filling their hard work and tax. In such a situation, no one has the right to express favor.
On the politics being done about Marathi of MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena), VHP spokesperson said, ‘Mumbai is the financial capital of the country and Marathi is the official language here, which everyone respects. I am from Kerala myself, but my family is in Mumbai before independence and we are connected to Marathi. Marathi language has got the place of pride, but as soon as the election comes near, some people want to take political advantage by creating language controversy. Poor Hindus are being fought among themselves, while all love Marathi literature, theater and culture. All this is a well thought out political conspiracy.
‘The country runs from the constitution’
VHP spokesperson Raj Nair said that India runs under a great constitution, which Baba Saheb Ambedkar has given us. The fundamental rights of all citizens are reserved in this constitution, whether they are from any religion or class. Those who call themselves minorities, their rights are also completely safe. Nobody is doing any favor on them. If they love this country, its soil and heritage and consider it as their country, then all problems will be eliminated. Identifying ancestors and accepting shared history is the solution. He said, ‘If we look at the status of minorities around the world, the condition of Hindus in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is very bad. In India, minorities have got the rights as much as in any country. In fact, it is not right to call Muslims a minority, because they are also associated with the soil of this country. Jews and Parsis can be called a minority in the true sense. Muslims and Christians are the safest in India, not the fact, not the subject of debate.
