Highlights

  • There will be an action on old vehicles in Delhi from November 1
  • This big decision has been taken after CACUM meeting
  • The action started due to lack of infrastructure support.
If you live in Delhi and you have a petrol vehicle older than 15 years and a diesel vehicle older than 10 years, then you have got relief from the Delhi government for four months. Actually, CAQM i.e. Commission for Air Quality Management met today. During this time, it has been decided to avoid the decision not to flee the old vehicles at petrol pumps and to seize them there. It was said that some time has been taken to remove the challenges coming now.

Now action on old vehicles in NCR cities also

Action on old vehicles will not be limited to Delhi only. It has been decided in the CAACUM meeting that from November 1, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Sonipat will also take action on petrol vehicles older than 15 years old and diesel vehicles older than 10 years. Till now only the Delhi government was taking action on such vehicles. The CAQM has not withdrawn the decision of no fuel to the EOL trains, but has been given some time, so that more preparations can be made properly.

Rules will be implemented strictly in petrol pump

As soon as winter comes in Delhi, black smoke is covered in the sky. This smoke keeps hovering till the winter season goes. During these four months, Delhi is not less than a gas chamber. This is the reason that the Delhi government has made up its mind to take action on old vehicles. In this episode, on one and 2 July, Rekha Gupta government took action on old car vehicles in the capital on a large scale. Not only old cars were not given petrol at the petrol pump, but they were also confiscated.

ANPR cameras monitor old vehicles

The Delhi government had to retreat with the decision of its action. Actually, with the help of AnPR cameras at the petrol pump, it was said to identify old vehicles. However, due to lack of infrastructure support, Rekha Gupta government had to retreat in an individual. Later, it was said that a decision can be taken after a comprehensive discussion with CACUM i.e. Air Quality Management Commission.
