Srinagar. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday termed the decision of the Election Commission to make special intensive revision in the voter list in Bihar as ‘anti -constitution’. Abdullah said, “More than 1.50 crore Bihari are working outside their state. How will they fill the form for nomination? How will they vote? Where will they bring their deceased parents’ certificates?” Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was talking to reporters in Kulgam, where he went to participate in a party program.

He said, “When BR Ambedkar formed the constitution, everyone had the right to vote. Then it was amended to give the right to vote for people aged 18 and above. Today, they (Election Commission) have brought a new law which is against the constitution. They are trying to please their boss. They are ready to give up to please their boss.”

Abdullah said that there is a need to wake up towards these ‘conspiracies’ because it is not acceptable to the people of India. He said, “I have to wake up. With regrets I say it is not acceptable to the people of India. If they carry it forward, there will be a movement to save the constitution and it will be bigger than the earlier movement. Allah will give them goodwill to protect the constitution.”

On June 24, the Election Commission issued instructions to make special intensive revision of voter lists in Bihar, which aims to remove ineligible names and include only the names of eligible citizens in the voter list. This was the final revision in Bihar in 2003.
