Dr. Sonia Rawat, director of the Preventive Health and Wellness Department of Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi, told News18 That lack of sleep affects the action of insulin hormones in our body. Insulin controls blood sugar. When a person sleeps less than 7-8 hours, the body is unable to use insulin properly. This causes blood sugar level to increase. Gradually this condition can turn into type 2 diabetes. Those who sleep less than 6 hours daily, the risk of diabetes increases double. Apart from this, for those who are diabetes patients, sleep is as important as the right diet. If you do not get enough sleep every day, then it will be difficult to control sugar level. Dr. Rawat said that due to lack of sleep, stress increases and the amount of hormone called cortisol in the body increases. This hormone also hinders the process that controls blood sugar. Apart from this, due to lack of sleep, appetite increases and people eat more calorie food, which increases weight. This also increases the risk of diabetes. Waking up or sleeping for a long time at night spoils our body’s circadian rhythm. When this biological clock does not function properly, the balance of the hormone breaks and the sugar level gets messed up. Therefore enough sleep is necessary.

According to experts, it is important to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily to avoid diabetes and keep sugar level control. The right time to sleep also matters. Gold between 10 and 11 o’clock in the night and getting up in the morning is beneficial for the body. The use of mobile or TV should be reduced before bedtime so that sleep gets good.
