New Delhi. The Delhi government on Monday approved the ‘Integrated District Project Fund’ and ‘District Project Fund’ schemes. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, under which a fund of Rs 53 crore has been approved for small but necessary development works in 11 districts of the capital.

What is the purpose of the scheme?
The goal of this fund is to speed up infrastructure, community facilities and small development projects related to social welfare in every government district of Delhi. Under the scheme, work will be given priority for repairing roads, improving the condition of schools and dispensaries, maintenance of street lights and CCTV cameras, cleaning of drains and revival of ponds. Apart from this, funds can also be used for public toilets, community centers, parks, panchayat buildings and flood control related works.

Every district will get 3 crore rupees

Under this scheme, Rs 3 crore will be allocated to each district. Out of this, 20 crore rupees will be distributed as ‘Integrated District Project Fund’ and Rs 33 crore as ‘District Project Fund’.

Fund operation arrangement
The scheme will be implemented by the Project Approval Committee (PAC) constituted at the district level. This committee will be chaired by the District Magistrate (DM) of the district concerned, while the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) will be the member secretary. The committee will include SDM (Headquarters), BDO, Senior Accounts Officer and Representative of the concerned beneficiaries department.

Ensure fast and transparency
The Chief Minister clarified that the district officials will be able to start the work related to this fund at their level without additional approval, which will not delay the projects and will remain transparency. This scheme is being considered as an important step towards solutions of problems at the local level and strengthening of infrastructure by furthering the approach to decentralization of the Delhi government.
