Yes, the CBI has taken its custody in America, Economic criminal Monica Kapoor. The CBI team will reach India today i.e. by Wednesday night. Monica Kapoor was absconding for 26 years. The American court has approved his extradition. Monica Kapoor has a case of crores of fake licenses with 16 fake licenses and a red corner note was issued against him. This scandal is 26 years old from today.

Actually, the investigation of fraud of crores of crores of crores is now in the headlines again. The accused named Monica Kapoor is accused of scaming crores in export-import with fake documents. The Delhi court had issued an arrest warrant against him and now he has been declared a ‘proclaimed offer’.

What is that fraud scandal

This case is of the year 1999. It is alleged that Monica Kapoor and her two brothers Rajan and Rajiv Khanna together prepared fake export documents. With the help of these fake papers, he obtained 16 ‘replenished licenses’ from the Government of India. Out of these, they sold 14 licenses to another company, which used them to import gold of any custom duty without using them. Due to this rigging, the Government of India suffered a loss of about 6.8 lakh dollars, or about 5.5 crore rupees.

Know when and what happened?

The investigation of the case was started by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in 1999. Kapoor was also questioned in September 1999. Then in 2002, this case was handed over to the CBI. In 2003, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Delhi issued an arrest warrant against Kapoor. After this, a charge sheet was filed in this case in 2004. When Monica Kapoor did not appear in the investigation or court even after giving notice several times, in February 2006, the court declared him a ‘proclaimed offer’ criminal. The Government of India also sought help from Interpol in search of Kapoor, and in 2003, Interpol issued a red corner notice in the name of Kapoor.
