In May of financial year 2025-26, Jhansi Railway Division made 62,354 units of electricity through 554 kW peak (KWP) capacity on-grid solar plants. This saved the division of about 1.96 lakh rupees. During this period, the utility of solar plants was 15.10%, which is a sign of effective production of solar energy. The total solar power generation capacity of Jhansi Railway Division is 1204 KWP. Earlier, 640 KWP solar plants were set up at Gwalior station, but due to the redevelopment work of the station, they have now been removed and installed in the Rail Coach Renewal factory of Jhansi. After this change, the solar power generation capacity of the mandal has again become 1204 KWP.
These solar plants are not only saving electricity, but also helping to keep the environment clean. The use of solar energy reduces carbon emissions, which is helpful in fighting climate change. This effort of Jhansi Railway Division is part of the initiative of Indian Railways, which has a target of pure-zero carbon emissions by 2030. These efforts of Mandal are not only benefiting economic benefits, but it is also a source of inspiration for the local community. By promoting the use of solar energy, Jhansi Railway Division has proved that environmental protection and balance of modern technology is possible.
