The director who made a film like Mughal-e-Azam is Asif of the name. At the age of 17, his uncle brought him from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai. Initially, he opened a tailor shop to run the house. But Asif wanted to be more than the tailor. His talent was also not going to stop here. Just like this, he also set the path ahead.

Asif directed the film Phool at the age of 20. Prithviraj Kapoor was in the lead role in this. The film was a box office hit and became the fourth film in the highest grossing films of 1945.
The biggest act in Asif’s career was the Mughal-e-Azam for which Asif put everything. He had spent 15 years. Its shooting started in the year 1940. Once filmmaker Karan Bali spoke about Asif’s vision. He had told how he used to spend life in the film. He could go to any extent. He had ordered glass from Belgium to reflect the reality in his films. When the shoes came from Agra, Dilip Kumar’s wig came from England.
The producer goes to Pakistan
It is said that Mughal-e-Azam was full of challenges for Asif. Because he wanted to make a grand film. In such a situation, apart from money, there were many problems. Sometimes he used to stop the shoot because of not getting the right thing. Because of which the financialsr was in trouble.
Shiraz Ali Hakim was also one of the main financers of Mughal-e-Azam. But he moved to Pakistan after partition in the year 1947 and in such a situation, Asif’s film was stuck here. Then the director started the lock of another producer. Eventually he received the appreciation of Shapoorji Pallaonji. Then the film was completed as soon as the film was completed.
Shooting stopped in pearl affair
Once, due to true pearls, Asif stopped shooting for months. Similarly, there are many such examples of which he made this film with which he made his film. You can understand Asif’s vision from this exam that he had forced the government to bow down for his film. Once in Jaipur, he was shooting for the film. The set of Akbar’s era was installed. But he saw that when electric poles were coming in the middle, he left the city. Then the electricity departments had to remove the pillars and then they came and shot.
Asif paid attention to many barricades. Gradually time was increasing. The film started in the year 1946 and it was released in theaters in the year 1960. He put all his property for the film. At that time, Rs 1.5 crore (estimated) was spent on it. Accordingly, Mughal-e-Azam became the most expensive Indian film of its time.
Asif made 3 films
Asif later started work on a project called Love and God in which Guru Dutt was filed. But even during this film, he had many problems. Guru Dutt suddenly passed away in 1964. Later Asif took Sanjeev Kumar in his place. But he himself passed away in about 48 years of 1971. Asif made only three films in a career, flowers, Mughal-e-Azam and Love and God.
